Welcome back to our blog readers. We are glad to be back and look forward to a run the next two months up to our Grand (shall we say Super) Opening of Project 938 on Super Bowl Sunday.
We will follow the story of Joshua entering a new land, trusting God to provide for him and his people. To see the parallels between Joshua and our experience, check out my short video here.
Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them. “Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
As Joshua enters into new land and territory, God has one message for him and one way to do it.
The Message: Be strong and courageous! (three times he says this).
How? Root yourself into the truth that is deeper, stronger and powerful than your circumstances, opponents, and personal weakness.
Joshua’s strength and courage will come from reading the words of God that were written down from Moses. God’s Word will be his strength and will give him courage.
So my message to each of us is: Be bold, be strong, expect great things, step up, and in particular, pray big prayers. Trust God to see AMAZING THINGS happen through our church plant.
How will we stay clear on this? Root yourself into God’s Word, daily. Try a morning and evening ritual, reading scripture (Joshua in the morning, a psalm at night?). I encourage the use of your own Bible but I also recommend great resources like the Youversion Bible that offers audio, background, reading plans, etc.
The Lord has commanded you and me to be strong and courageous. It is the only way to live by faith. So, let’s lean in, focus ourselves and feed our courage the right way, through God’s Word.
